File Integrity Command & Control (FICC) helps
system administrators manage multiple Tripwire
installations. It maintains MD5 hashes for three key Tripwire files (the config file, executable, and TW database) for every system it monitors. It then verifies that the MD5 checksum of these key files against the signatures in its file checksum database. If all signatures match those in the database, it then connects to the host
via SSH and runs Tripwire. If any of the signatures do not match those in the database or Tripwire detects file system changes, an email is sent
to the "FICC administrator" of the system in question.

This release is mostly an update to documentation. There are no new features or bugfixes. It contains an update to the updateDB script so it now honors the "quick_check" configuration option, reducing bandwidth usage. The "quick_check" option for hosts was introduced.
This allows FICC to download only the MD5
executable for the target host. If the checksum of
the remote MD5 executable is unchanged, FICC then
runs the remote MD5 executable on the remaining
files (the Tripwire executable, database, and
config file). This dramatically reduces bandwidth
usage and runtime.

A possibly unsafe use of the fork() call was
fixed. A per-host feature was added to send email
even if no changes were detected. The scanning of
Tripwire output was made more robust to see if
Tripwire detected filesystem changes.
