vsound allows you to record the output of any
standard OSS program that uses /dev/dsp without
having to modify or recompile the program. It uses
the same idea as the esddsp wrapper and preloads a
library that intercepts calls to open /dev/dsp and
returns a handle to a normal file. It also intercepts
IOCTLs on that file handle and logs them to help
convert the audio data from its raw form. It then uses
sox to convert the raw data to the desired file format.

butt (broadcast using this tool) is an
easy-to-use, multi-OS streaming tool. It supports
ShoutCast and IceCast. butt runs on Linux, Mac OS,
and Windows.

Znap is a small network audio mixing daemon. It
can load streams supported by the fmod library
(Ogg MP3, WAV, etc.) and mix them together. It can
be controlled via TCP or XML-RPC. It supports
playlists and has an SQLite backend. Future
releases will provide scheduling capabilities,
making it able to act like radio automation software.

dsprec reads samples from the /dev/dsp device and
outputs them to standard output. It allows you to
specify the sample rate, word size, and number of
channels.

Flrec is a simple audio hard-disk recorder written
in FLTK. It can directly record in WAV, MP3, Ogg
Vorbis, and other formats. It uses sox as its
backend.

TheLastRipper can save Last.fm streams to MP3s
while downloading the album cover, appending ID3v1
tags, and organizing your music by
artist/album/track. It will also help you generate
playlists from the data available from your
Last.fm account. It requires a Last.fm login.

KRadioRipper is a program for recording Internet radios and other streams. For streams that provide information about the song title, it can split the stream and create a separate file for each track with a corresponding file name and corresponding metadata.

The FreeBoB project aims to provide a free driver
implemenation for the BeBoB platform. The BeBoB is
used in many available IEEE 1394 based break-out
boxes. BeBoB devices are audio breakout boxes.
BeBoB devices are attached with IEEE1394, a.k.a
FireWire or i.Link, a high performance serial bus.
FreeBoB is a generic Linux driver for BeBoB
devices and supports JACK.
