qingy is a replacement for getty. It uses DirectFB
to provide a fast, nice GUI without the overhead

This release included a fix for zsh not being invoked as a login shell and rationalized when to start a shell as a login shell or not. An issue with dbus was fixed. The qingy PAM file was updated for Gentoo. The ability to change (or disable) mouse cursors in themes was added: it is now possible to set up a global theme cursor as well as different cursors when the mouse passes specific elements.

Since shutting DirectFB mode down sometimes fails due to the fact that DFB itself may hang somewhere when closing graphic mode, code that performs a low-level reset of the console was added, thus effectively restoring it into an usable state. Support for screen power management was added. The screen(s) will be powered off after a given timeout. Several bugfixes and clean-ups were made.

Corrupt graphics were replaced. A bug that sometimes made the qingy GUI hang on exit was fixed. DirectFB support is now optional. This means that you can compile and run qingy on systems that do not have DirectFB installed.
